Summary

Fieldwalking in 1990 recovered a Mesolithic/Neolithic flint pick. Metal detecting between 2001 and 2007 recovered a number of objects from the Roman, medieval and post medieval periods, including a Roman nail cleaner and a fragment of a medieval or post medieval cauldron. Late Prehistoric flints and a Late Bronze Age awl were also recovered.

Full description

June 1990. Stray Find.
Found south of Church Lane at [1]:
1 Mesolithic/?Neolithic half brown-stained chipped flint pick (butt end).
Previously recorded as NHER 28435.

It should be noted that the flint pick listed above could well be the same object as a broken "Mesolithic/Neolithic flint axe/adze" recorded under NHER 25518 that was brought in for identification in 2009 and again in 2019. This implement is recorded as having been found amongst farm buildings at [2] and had possibly been "...imported with hardcore to make-up the farmyard". See NHER 25518 for further details.

Post medieval worn trade token farthing, C. Cosens, Great Yarmouth, Williamson 308-311, 1650-71, weighing 0.41g.

Cast cauldron foot, abruptly expanding from sub-triangular section leg (15 x 7mm) to three-toed terminal (35x21mm). 15th-16th century.
Incomplete copper alloy rowel spur, parts of oval section sides, short neck springing from oval moulding and expanding to rowel box, rowel missing. 18th century,
