Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting during pipe laying works in 1997 recovered prehistoric flints together with a medieval buckle and a spindle whorl or weight. Metal-detecting in 2018 and 2019 recovered medieval coins; as well as Early Saxon brooch fragments; a Late Saxon/medieval weight; a medieval censer suspension unit; a medieval/post-medieval purse bar; and a post-medieval crotal bell.

Full description

January-April 1997. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on proposed route of Bacton to Great Yarmouth pipeline (Field/Location RDX 28.1).
Five Prehistoric flints including a scraper and flakes were recovered along with a 12th to 13th century buckle plate and a medieval lead weight or spindle whorl.
