Summary
A 1946 aerial photograph of this location shows cropmarks of ditched enclosures. The presence of internal divisions and ponds may suggest this was a former settlement site. A visit to the location in 1998 recovered sherds of medieval pottery, post medieval bricks/tiles and noted the remains of a toft. This evidence suggests that the settlement was likely of medieval date.

Full description
January 1946. See (S1).
RAF air photograph shows soil marks of ditched enclosures, mostly pre-dating Enclosure of 1809, although some still on County Series OS maps (dashed lines on map in file).
Internal divisions and ponds suggest possible settlement site.
(S2) shows one house just northwest of woodland.
September 1998. Site visit.
Visit noted enclosure boundary show as slight linear banks/depressions. Limited fieldwalking on stubble produced two scraps of medieval unglazed, with some evidence for post medieval brick/tile near to house position. Possible toft, extending well into post medieval period.
