Full description
29 April 1998. Visited.
Former public house. Timber framed building on three cell cross passage plan with original upper floor and stack; later converted to lobby entrance. Despite the plan the details of the timbering indicate a late date. A documentary reference of 1641 seems too early and may not refer to this building, whereas a date formerly on the house of 1799 is too late. Documentary evidence tied to the present building starts at 1720 and probably a date of about 1700 is appropriate.
