Summary

Metal-detecting between 1997 and 2018 recovered Roman and medieval pottery sherds; Roman, Middle Saxon, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval to post-medieval jettons and tokens; and Middle Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Middle Saxon hooked tag; a Middle-Late Saxon brooch; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories, copper alloy vessel fragments and lead weights; a medieval harness pendant, mirror case and seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval sieve and a post-medieval harness mount and lead cloth seal.

1997. Metal detecting finds.
Roman 2 coins. See list in file.
Middle Saxon fragment of cast copper alloy hooked tag, (S1). Sub-triangular head plate with stubs of 2 attachment holes. Collar below head with top of hook. Circle of white cement shows position of applied feature. Middle Saxon 7th/9th century.
Medieval cast copper alloy strap end/mount fragment in the form of a stylised animal head. Gilded. Triangular field between ears has groove at back but otherwise incomplete. Copper alloy bezel terminal. Early medieval 11th/12th century.
