Full description

On west side of hedge where farm track passes through into field at approximately TM 2208 9185.
Circular concrete base. No sign of reinforcement but right size for a mortar spigot and difficult to think of any other reason for such a feature here.
E. Rose (NLA), 5 December 1997.

This spigot mortar emplacement may be all that remains of a searchlight battery and hut associated with Hardwick USAF Airfield (NHER 21992), which lies approximately 2.5km east-south-east.
