Full description

1997. Metal detecting.
Medieval, very heavy oval buckle frame with integral plate. Frame is long and narrow and round in section; plate has D section and is long, with the far end broken off. One large rivet hole survives next to a smaller ?pin hole. Very strong buckle, but with a small pin hole far away from the loop, it must have had a specialised use.
