Name:Iron Age coin and multi period pottery sherds


Fieldwalking here in 1996 recovered various sherds of Roman, medieval and post medieval pottery sherds. Types identified included Roman coarse ware and medieval Grimston Ware. Metal detecting at the same site in 2005 recovered a single Iron Age coin made from silver.

Full description

1996. Fieldwalking finds over an area approximately 25 x 30m.
Roman coarse ware: two jar rims; one bowl rim; four body sherds including one strangely fired, oxidised; one micaceous oxidised; and one large lump, reduced with oxidised surface, tile or pot.
Also one Late medieval/Transitional body sherd and one Glazed Grimston body sherd.
