Full description
Early 1990's. Defensive Structures Survey. E2-17.
Local informants state that a ring of anti-tank blocks surrounded this crossroads during World War Two.
The tank blocks would have formed part of a ring of fortification that also included:
Two pillboxes (NHER 62733 and NHER 62734)
A spigot mortar gun emplacement (NHER 32736)
A second gun emplacement (NHER 30788)
A Home Guard shelter (NHER 62735)
An illustration of the tank blocks is included on Survey Form E2-17 which is actually for NHER 32415 (a Home Guard shelter located to the southwest of this crossroads).
All features except NHER 30788 were originally recorded under this number but are now recorded separately.
Compiled by D. Walker (NLA), August 1996.
