Location
Full description
1993. Norfolk unprovenanced, probably Hockwold cum Wilton.
Timber lined well, animal skulls, Iron Age coins and Roman pottery, allegedly.
See photographs of Roman pottery and (S1) in file.
D. Gurney (NLA) 3 August 1993.
October 1993.
Source now adds that the timber lined well, 1.2m (4ft) square, was discovered over the winter 'a few years ago', exposed by dredging work in very boggy ground 'somewhere south of NHER 5587'.
Note that NHER 5587/c1 (in the Scheduled Area) is Curtis' 1967 timber lined well.
The pots recovered have apparently been stolen.
D. Gurney (NLA) 22 October 1993.
