August 1995. Field Observation.
The pillbox was examined as part of the Defensive Structures Survey.
It has been identified as a common Type 22 pillbox (generally constructed in 1940-1941) in good condition with no apparent threat. It is faced with red brick and has A/R steps to loops. The pillbox faces northeast.
Information from survey form (S1).
D.Walker (NLA), July 1996. Amended H. Hamilton (HES), 31 January 2021.

December 1997. Field Observation.
Seen from afar, standing within a cultivated field.
D.Gurney (NLA), 9 December 1997.

January 2020. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The surviving Second World War pillbox described above is visible as a structure on aerial photographs (S2). It is clear from 1940s aerial photographs such as (S3) that it was originally hidden within a field boundary that has since been removed. On aerial photographs taken in February 1946 (S4) there are possibly some additional Second World War defences further along the hedge line to the west, but these could equally relate to agricultural activity and have not been mapped.
The location of this pillbox has been moved 26m to the east [1].
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 14 January 2020.
