Location
Full description
Pre 1989. Surface finds in gardening.
Scatter of medieval unglazed sherds and one late Grimston greenglazed sherd.
Identified by E. Rose (NAU) and A. Davison (NAU).
Unfinished Neolithic flint arrowhead.
Identified by E. Rose (NAU).
Many clay pipes.
Large blocks of ashlar reported by owner, mostly now buried: but those seen by E. Rose (NAU) in flowerbeds proved to be large pieces of tapslag in bowl form and a stone roller from some industrial process.
The garden is the course of the old road, see NHER 18320.
The house itself is mid 18th century, said to be a former inn, but is not of archaeological interest.
E. Rose (NAU), 10 May 1989.
