Summary
Fieldwalking here in 1989 recovered a selection of Roman pottery sherds and prehistoric flints. It has been suggested that the name of the site derives from its past use as an airship base but this is incorrect.

Full description
14 and 15 March 1989. Fieldwalking.
Field ploughed, rolled and drilled; sparse shot cereal; rain formed thick surface crust; moderate number of flint pieces. Weather overcast with drizzle for northern third, variable sunny to bright cloudy remainder.

This site was suggested as the possible site of an airship base (NHER 13624) however, the field is named from a strip used by [1].
