Summary

Fieldwalking in 1988 and metal-detecting between 1988 and 2009 recovered prehistoric flint, Roman and medieval pottery, Roman and medieval coins, and Roman, Middle Saxon and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch; a Middle Saxon pin; a medieval brooch, buckle, candle holder, seal and strap fitting; and a post-medieval button and coin weight.

Full description

16 March 1988. Fenland fieldwalking. Poor conditions, recently drilled with carrots and the sandy soil not
yet well-weathered.
Odd flints and medieval sherds and one Samian sherd.

Faceted socket with collar near opening at top, part of a late medieval candlestick. Leaf-shaped opening in front and back of socket. Part of ring survives which would have been attached to base. See for comparison LMMC, fig.55, no.2.
