Summary

Fieldwalking in 1986 by the Fenland Survey recovered a general scatter of medieval pottery sherds, largely from the east end of the field. A concentration of medieval pottery sherds, with a small number of shell and animal bone fragments, was also recorded.

29 October 1986. Fenland fieldwalking, young cereal, well weathered soil. Field between Puny Drain and former Clarkes Drove siding.
Context 1: general scatter. Medieval sherds mainly east end. WHW AG (S1).
Context 2: (at 6241 1547). Area of scatter about 56m north to south x 22m east to west. Concentration medieval pottery on ridge of mineral soil projecting into silt and up to 0.8m above it. Also odd bit of shell and animal bone. WHW 2 (S2).
