Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking between 1986 and 2003 recovered a piece of Roman pottery, a possibly Late Saxon finger ring, a medieval coin of William I and medieval pottery fragments. Also found was an undated copper alloy balance pan from a pair of scales.

September 1986. Metal detecting. East of Larling church.
Context 3.
Bronze balance pan from pair of scales (Date?).
Polaroid (S1) NCM.
Identified by S. Margeson (NCM).

22 May 1987. Fieldwalking on edge of wood.
Context 1 along north edge of field/south edge wood centred on findspot of context 3.
Fifteen medieval unglazed sherds including one pimply.
Early medieval and one glazed Grimston.
Context 2 east side of churchyard just west of context 3.
Isolated sherds; one Roman greyware and one medieval unglazed.
