Name:Possible medieval trackway, medieval pottery sherd concentrations

Summary

Fieldwalking in 1985 by the Fenland Survey recovered a general scatter of medieval pottery sherds, mainly from the vicinity of the drove. Two concentrations of medieval pottery sherds were also noted, both with shell, bone and post medieval fragments, situated on the edge of a medieval trackway.

Full description

14 November 1985. Fieldwalking on well weathered ploughsoil..
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds mainly from vicinity of drove. WMV BZ (S1).
Context 2 at 5823 1387: concentration medieval pottery sparse to moderate, moderate shell, sparse animal bone, post medieval building rubble sparse to moderate. On edge medieval drove. Around 32m east to west x 36m north to south. WMV 13 (S2).
Context 3 at 5823 1373: concentration sparse medieval pot, sparse shell, very sparse bone, moderate post medieval rubbish. On edge of medieval drove. Area 23m east to west x 14m north to south 1.5m OD. WMV 14 (S3).
