A gold coin and a silver coin dating from the reign of James VI of Scotland found during metal detecting on the beach. A number of similar coins have been found since the mid 19th century, see NHER 8665.

Full description
February 1985. South of California on beach about 91cm (1 yd) from cliff after scouring. Found with metal detecting.
Gold Rider of James VI Scotland 1599.
Silver noble or halfmark James VI Scotland 1572.
