Full description
Wayside cross on village green 12cm (5 inch) high base, part of shaft.
Probably connected with priory.
Owner ? Parish Council.
R. R. Clarke (NCM)
Set on very tall plinth of several steps.
Top of shaft missing, but unusually there are carved corbels halfway up each face of remaining shaft.
Good condition.
See (S1) and (S2), which states that this is one of the best surviving example of a medieval cross in Norfolk, probably erected by the monks, after a medieval market grant. A market and fair were held here until the early 1950s.
