Summary

A Neolithic axehead was found in 1983. Other prehistoric flints and potboilers were found during the Fenland fieldwalking survey, suggesting that this site, together with NHER 5320, was occupied during the Early Neolithic period.

Found on island surface at [2] (Context 2):
Neolithic polished flint axehead. See drawing (S1) and photograph (S2).

(S5) notes that this site, together with NHER 5320, is a possible Early Neolithic occupation site. Other Early Neolithic occupation sites have been recorded in the area indicating that settlement shifted into the Fenland Basin from the river valleys during this period. See (S5) for more details.
