Full description

7 November 1983. Fenland fieldwalking. Field of winter wheat, well weathered.
Extensive scatter of Roman sherds on north edge of large roddon, material extending onto flat ground beyond. Animal bone present but sparse. Also odd bit of medieval pottery and slag. Conceivably an extension of NHER 19637 but unlikely. 100m east to west x 50m north to south approximately at 7 feet (2.1m) OD. Large size of sherds suggests plough is presently disturbing Roman levels. WPP 14 (S1).
For full details of wares, flint types etc see Fenland Folders (S2).
R. Silvester (NAU), 7 November 1983.
