Full description

Possible Moat.
Feature shown on map (S1) north side of moat with studs of east and west arms, but not marked as moat.
(S2) shows this as now but with house to south. Looks more convincing as moat.
E. Rose (NAU), 11 October 1982.

1982. Site visit.
North arm remains as on OS, much overgrown. Ditch of road on south is large here (part shown by OS as pond). Is this the original south arm? Not convincing as moat on ground now, but bearing in mind (S2), it very probably was.
E. Rose (NAU), 13 October 1982.

August 1997. Earthwork Survey.
Survey at 1:1000, indicating a common edge settlement, probably a toft.
See report (S4) for further details and copy of plan (S5). The results of this survey are also summarised in (S6).
B. Cushion (NLA). Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 12 November 2015.

June 2000. Visit.
Site under pasture grazed by horses, parts rough to be cut for hay. Owner wishes to cut two small channels to northeast and southwest to improve drainage on wet areas of the field. He will notify A & E about operations which will be of minimal impact on the site.
H. Paterson, 22 June 2000.

Management Statement signed 8 July 2000.
See copy in office file.
H. Paterson, 24 August 2000.

June 2004. Geophysical survey.
(S3) in file.
J. Allen (NLA), 25 February 2005.
