Summary

This is the site of The Rectory, an early 19th century Gothick style house that was demolished in the 1930s. Old photographs show the house with Tudor style windows, a large brick porch and a full-height brick section, rather like a turret, with a central Gothick window.

Full description

Site of rectory.

Demolished 1933.
Photograph in church shows 'double' house (i.e. 2 gables each end). Flat facade of 7 bays, 2 storeys, with parapet.
Tudor-style straight headed windows. At one end a full-height brick section like a flat turret with central Gothic window.
Large brick angle-pilastered porch. Genuine early 16th century, or Gothick?
In all, probably latter, around 1820. Genuine origin cannot be ruled out.
