Summary
Metal detecting here in 1981 recovered a large number of metal objects. These included a Roman bronze headplaque with silvered eyes and drilled pupils, an Iron Age coin showing Jupiter Ammon and Saxon silver coins including one from the reign of Edward the Elder. Several Roman and medieval pottery sherds were also found.

Full description
June 1981. Freshly ploughed old pasture - old river valley peat. Found with metal detector.
Bronze headplaque with silvered eyes and drilled pupils. Cast NCM and photograph. Since identified as as a mask depicting Pan. See article (S1).
Sestertius of Hadrian, reverse illegible.
Valentinian, SECVRITAS REIPVBLICAE, mint illegible. AD 364-378.
Four sherds Roman greyware.
One sherd coarse colour-coated, probably Nene Valley 4th century.
Medieval green glazed handle.
AE coin showing Jupiter Ammon - probably Lysimachus, Thrace. In fact this coin shows Alexander deified with horn of Ammon. Original struck 323-281 BC but posthumous copies to 85 BC at least. Note coincidence with horns on face mask.
Found within 15m (50ft) of each other.
