Full description

6 February 1980. Visited.
Terrace, now consisting of two houses and formerly divided into four.
Apparently originally one or two houses.

Timber framed wattle and daub or clay lump. Some flint in wall bases (see west gable).
Later clad in brick and rendered, at least in part.
Dentilled cornice and external chimneys suggest early 19th century date for this.
Inside, two storeys and roof space.
Against west gable is large fireplace recently uncovered. Off centre to room. Brick with heavy lintel, apparently late 17th century.
Beam with stopped chamfers at one end runs east to west. At its east end is a very large chimney stack, with present front door opening on a passage to its south.
In east side of this stack is a modern fireplace, apparently replacing a small 19th century grate.
Brickwork around is 19th century, filling in a large fireplace. In space north of chimney a domed brick bread oven was revealed in December 1980. Another ceiling beam running east to west in room east of stack. Then a thin brick wall, beyond which a third room with all beams exposed. Some of the joists have unusual chamfered edges, but the main beam is rough. Remainder of building to east not seen.
Said to be modernised beyond recognition. Upstairs rooms are small.
