Name:Cropmarks of an undated rectangular enclosure and multi-period finds

Summary

A rectangular enclosure was identified from aerial photographs taken in 1976. Numerous metal-detecting surveys between 1997 and 2015 have recovered Late Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons and tokens and Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman and Middle Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Bronze Age axehead; an Iron Age brooch; a Roman brooch and spindle whorl; a Middle Saxon stylus; a Middle/Late Saxon strap-end; a Late Saxon furniture fitting; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval harness mount and pot mend; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy rings, chafing dish fragments and cauldron feet and post-medieval trade weights, a coin weight, spoon, harness mount, crotal bell and lead cloth seals.
