Name:Medieval hollow way and multi-period objects

Summary

Fieldwalking in this area during 1973 and 1990 recovered sherds of Iron Age, Roman, Late Saxon, medieval, and post medieval pottery. The presence of a medieval hollow way was also noted. Subsequent metal detecting on site in 1999-2000 retrieved various objects including a post medieval saddle pommel, a shield-shaped medieval horse harness pendant, two medieval spur buckles, several post medieval jettons and a Late Saxon stirrup strap mount.

1973. Context 1 at [1]. Near drive of Wolterton Hall. On ploughed surface.
One medieval coarse body sherd.
One greyware body sherd, undated.
Found by A. Rogerson and J. Manser (NAU).
