Summary

A dove house was shown at this location on a map of 1550 kept at Mannington Hall. The area is now known as Duffers Plantation, and the word duffers was often used to describe dovehouses. In addition, a 19th century map also showed that a kiln once stood here although no trace of this structure could be found.

Full description

Dove house shown on map of 1550 at Mannington Hall, with little doves flying round it.
Note name Duffers Plantation; Duffers = Dovehouse.
19th century map also at hall shows site as 'old kiln'!
No trace on ground.
