Full description

1929. 'Dug up on lawn of Ellingham Hall'
This could be anywhere in the park.
Two socketed iron spearheads, one with leaf shaped blade.
Information from label on objects.

In fact there is only one part of the grounds that is a lawn, and it appears this has always been the case. It is at the above grid reference.
E. Rose (NAU), 2 August 1977.

August 2006
The 1840 Ellingham tithe map (S1) shows the whole of the park area between the Hall and Yarmouth Road labelled as
‘The Lawn’. Consequently the spearheads could have been found anywhere in the park as originally stated.
