Full description

October 1976. Found in Battle Area digging slit trench.
Human skeletal remains at 61cm (2ft) deep.
Soldiers claimed that leg bones were at right angles to back bone.
All bones removed before site could be visited, but A. Gregory (NAU) found clear outline of oval pit, about 91cm x 122cm (3ft x 4ft), filled with dark orange sand, cut about 30cm (1ft) into weathered chalk below about 30cm (1ft) topsoil.
Head of body apparently to south.
Presence of barrows to north may be significant.
