Record Details

NHER Number:11655
Type of record:Find Spot
Name:Multi-period finds from Caister Castle Farm

Summary

An NAU evaluation on this site in 1996 did not reveal any significant archaeological features. Prehistoric flints, possible Roman pottery and glass and post-medieval finds were recovered during the evaluation. Roman coins, medieval coins and a medieval lead ampulla have been found by fieldwalking and metal detecting. Cropmarks previously recorded under this NHER number are now recorded separately elsewhere. The ring ditch is recorded as NHER 27573 and the field system cropmarks are part of NHER 27512. Metal-detecting in 2010 recovered Roman, medieval and post-medieval metal objects including a Roman dolphin brooch, medieval harness pendant and casket key and post-medieval buttons.
