Name:Candle Yards, site of medieval East Hall

Summary

East Hall was demolished around 1530. Some of the earthworks of the moat and fishponds can be seen on the ground and on aerial photographs. Pieces of medieval pottery and tile have been found. This site is the largest and highest status secular moat in Norfolk.

Candle Yards.
Double moat, site of East Hall, demolished around 1520.

1726. Pavement found.

1974. Medieval sherds found.

1997. Considerable quantity of medieval building remains found.

1997. Fieldwalking.
Medieval and post medieval sherds. Medieval floor and roofing tiles and bricks.
