Summary

Between 1954 and 1955 two flint core tools were found at this location. One was a flint axehead of Mesolithic/Neolithic date and the other a Neolithic axehead or unfinished chisel.

Full description

November 1954. Stray Find.
Prehistoric chipped flint axehead. Information from (S1). See outline sketch (S2). Although this object was originally recorded as Neolithic it has been suggested by E. Rose (NAU) that the quadrilateral section shown in (S2) points to a Mesolithic date.

Found around 1000ft (305m) east of Whitefields Grove:
Neolithic chipped flint axehead, or possibly an unfinished chisel. Information from (S1). See drawing (S3).
