A Second World War military site, possibly relating to a searchlight emplacement (see above), is visible as buildings, structures and earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs (S2-S7). The features consist of a series of huts (most likely relating to accommodation and support buildings), structures, possible gun or searchlight emplacements, possible slit trenches, trackways and two possible compounds or enclosures (centred at approximately TF 8921 1721 and TF 8926 1722) defined by either low earthwork banks or fences. Several areas of disturbed ground can be seen as soilmarks across the area on S3-S5. These areas have been mapped by extent and may have related to removed structures or recently levelled earthworks. The majority of the earthworks, buildings and structures are levelled and removed over time. Although some of the earthworks are still visible on recent visualised lidar date from a survey flown in 2017 (S8).
