Full description

July 2001. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of drainage trenches in churchyard of St Augustine's (NHER 575).
Several medieval Grimston pottery sherds found.
A small amount of human skeletal remains was unearthed and was retained by the building contractors for reburial.
Otherwise negative. Trenches were not excavated to a depth where they might be expected to reveal evidence of occupation prior to the construction of the church.
