Summary

The medieval parish church was dismantled in the 1880s, and rebuilt on a new site, see NHER 3320. The original church probably had its origins in the Late Saxon period, and the only standing remains are the octagonal west tower, which probably dates from the Late Saxon period, with later medieval alterations.

Full description

Late Saxon and 14th century tower; remainder removed to build new church in 1883 at site NHER 3320.
Excavations in 1948.
Some Roman tile in southwest quoins.

When W. H. Marcon became rector in 1875 the church was in very poor repair, and was at some distance from the village. In the 1880s the medieval church was dismantled and rebuilt at its new site, NHER 3320.
