Summary

Metal detecting recovered a wide range of objects dating from the Bronze Age to the post medieval period. These include a Bronze Age awl, an Iron Age silver coin, a Roman seal box lid, a Saxon gold thyrmsa, a Late Saxon brooch, a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount and two medieval horse harness pendants. The Late Saxon brooch depicts a backwards biting beast. The medieval horse harness pendants bear the coats of arms of the de Warenne family and possibly a crude depiction of the arms of England.
