In 1964 a piece of medieval pottery was found in a gravel pit here. The gravel pit is located approximately where a Liberator bomber crashed in 1942.

Medieval sherd found in pit near Carr's Hills.

The site of the plane crash is not apparent in April 1942 (S2) or May 1944 (S3). In September 1945 (S4) a slight clearing in the trees and some signs of ground disturbance are visible in the area of the previously recorded site.
