Summary

This is the site of a Roman settlement, close to the Roman road, NHER 1791, which runs through the parish. A large number of Roman coins, pottery and other metalwork, including brooches and rings, as well as building material has been recovered from the site since the early 20th century. Metal-detecting in 2010 recovered Roman coins, Romano-British pottery, Roman, medieval and post-medieval artefacts including Roman brooches, a Roman copper alloy bead and post-medieval harness mounts.
