Summary
Queens Square was Attleborough's medieval market place. A medieval cross stood in the square until it was removed in 1787. In 1897 a water pump was installed on the approximate site of the cross t o celebrate Queen Victoria's 60th Jubilee. The pump was restored in 1975 and in 2001/2002.

Full description
September 1975. Pump on Queens Square.
Encased in wood, about 1.8m (6ft) high with acorn finial. Full length stone plaque says it was enclosed for Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1897. Recently restored.

Is Queen Square the old market place? If so, the pump would stand on the approximate site of the old cross, removed in 1787, although 'a mound' marked the site afterwards.
