Summary

Metal-detecting in 2005 and between 2012 and 2015 recovered prehistoric worked flints; Iron Age, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a Late Saxon/medieval hone stone fragment; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval to post-medieval jettons and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch, nail cleaner and furniture nail or stud; Roman/Early Saxon buckle; Early Saxon brooch; an Early/Middle Saxon mount; part of a Middle Saxon pin; a Late Saxon strap-end, possible furniture mount fragment and an ingot; Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorl; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories and harness mounts; a medieval rumbler bell, ?lamp suspension unit, sword scabbard chape and thimble; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and copper alloy rings and a post-medieval small sword/rapier quillon, coin weight, knife-end stop and a cloth seal.

September-October 2005. Metal-detecting.
1 prehistoric flint flake.
1 ?Early Neolithic serrated flint flake.
1 Iron Age pottery sherd.
1 Roman brooch (dolphin type), 1 furniture nail/stud and 1 nail cleaner fragment (from toilet set).
1 Middle Saxon pin.
1 Late Saxon strap-end fragment (Winchester style).
1 ?Late Saxon ?furniture mount fragment and 1 ingot.
1 Late Saxon/medieval stone hone fragment (?blue phyllite).
2 medieval coins, 1 key, 1 harness strap-loop (gilt), 1 buckle plate, 1 buckle pin, 1 buckle frame, 1 belt looped bar mount, 1 strap-end (gilt) and 1 ?lamp suspension unit.
2 post-medieval coins, 1 coin-weight, 1 small sword/rapier quillon, 1 silver dress-hook (gilt), 1 silver composite button, 1 knife-end stop, 1 sword belt mount and 1 button.
3 undatable/post-medieval lead weights.
