Summary

Metal-detecting between 2005 and 2014 recovered possible Palaeolithic to Late Bronze Age worked flints, including a Mesolithic/Neolithic core; medieval and post-medieval pottery; Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and Roman, Saxon, medieval and post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Late Saxon cast openwork bead; medieval buckles; a medieval/post-medieval crotal bell and copper alloy vessel leg and post-medieval buttons, a copper-alloy vessel fragment, crotal bell, bell fragment and a spoon.

1 post-medieval pottery sherd (Frenchen stoneware body with round 'chrysanthemum' medallion).

December 2005-January 2006. Metal-detecting. Site extended.
1 Neolithic/Bronze Age flint scraper (broad, thick, tertiary flake, grey, ventral retouch to distal edge), 1 flint borer, (secondary flake, brownish, right side of point shows retouch and wear), 1 retouched flake, (sub-rectangular, brown, extensive edge damage, minor retouch).
1 Roman brooch (disk type) and 1 ?brooch fragment (Lion bow type).
1 Roman/Early Saxon belt stiffener.
1 Late Saxon coin and 1 cast copper alloy openwork 'bead'.
1 medieval coin, 2 pottery sherds (unglazed), 1 buckle plate fragment (gilt), 1 lead ampulla and 1 composite strap-end.
1 medieval/post-medieval vessel rim fragment.
3 post-medieval coins, 1 token, 2 book clasps, 1 lead cloth seal and 1 spur fragment.
