Summary
This is the site of a World War Two aircraft crash. On 22 January 1945 a United States Army Air Force B-24 crashed into a house at the junction of Church Road and Spixworth Road. The plane was completely destroyed by fire, the crew were killed and an occupant of the house was taken to hospital. There is now a memorial to the victims of the crash in the village.

22 January 1945. Junction of Church Road and Spixworth Road.
USAAF B-24 crashed into houses at the junction of the two roads.
