Fieldwalking in this area during 1998 collected over a hundred Roman pottery sherds along with some medieval pottery pieces. These finds suggest this may be the location of a Roman settlement.

Full description

July 1998. Fieldwalking.
100 plus pottery sherds, mainly small and abraded, and predominantly Roman fine grey fabrics (comparable to fabrics from Brampton). Forms include jars and bead and flanged bowl. Among it, some medieval unglazed and glazed, including Grimston.
