Summary

Metal detecting recovered a large number of finds dating from the Mesolithic to the post medieval period. These include Mesolithic or Early Neolithic blade-like flint flakes, part of an Iron Age brooch, at least one Iron Age coin, Roman brooches, part of an Early Saxon cruciform brooch, two Late Saxon disc brooches, an intriguing Late Saxon gilt horse harness fitting and a medieval or post medieval pilgrim badge depicting the martyrdom of St Edmund. Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post medieval coins and tokens were also found.

Three post medieval cloth seals, harness or belt mount and Frechen stoneware medallion fragment.

1995. Metal detecting finds.
Post medieval binding ring with 'crosses' decoration.
Medieval buckle with pseudo-runic inscription.
10th century Borre-flat disc brooch, (S2), white metal coating, near and well done interlace with central contour line on all bands. Central cruciform motif has pellets in spandrels around central roundel. Very nice single lug and catchplate.
