Summary

Metal detecting recovered a Middle Saxon silver penny of Offa with the name of Archbishop Aethelheard struck on one side. It was made between AD 793 and 805. When it was found in 1994 it was a new type that had not been found anywhere else before.

Obverse: OFFA between two lines across field. REX below and M above.
Reverse: +AEDILHEARD PONF; around small cross and crosslets. Pellets and lines in angles.
