Summary

Prehistoric flint implements, medieval brick and roof tile and post medieval pottery, found during a watching brief carried out by the Norfolk Archaeological Unit in 1992 during the construction of a new gas pipeline.

Full description

May-August 1992. Fieldwalking and Metal-Detecting Survey and Watching Brief.
Fieldwork carried out along route of Yelverton to East Carleton Gas Pipeline (Survey Blocks 8-42).
Finds recovered during initial survey include:
2 prehistoric flint cores and 10 flakes.
7 ?medieval brick/tile fragments.
9 post-medieval pottery sherds.
1 modern pottery sherd.
Undatable pot boilers and shell.
No archaeologically significant features or deposits identified during subsequent monitoring of topsoil stripping and excavation of pipe trench.

The finds have been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1995.75).
