Name:Probable Roman settlement

Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking recovered a range of finds dating from the Bronze Age to the post medieval period. Within these finds were a large number of Roman objects in a concentrated area. These Roman finds include coins, pieces of pottery, brooches, brick and tile, a knife handle and finger rings. This is probably part of the site of a small Roman settlement. Other finds include a Bronze Age awl, an Early Saxon brooch, medieval and post medieval coins and tokens and pieces of Bronze Age, Iron Age, Saxon, medieval and post medieval pot. Undated metal working debris was also found.
