Summary

Metal detecting recovered finds dating from the Iron Age to the post medieval period. These include a late Iron Age mount or fitting, a Roman dolphin brooch, an Early to Middle Saxon mushroom-shaped mount, a 9th century 'backwards-looking beast' disc brooch, a medieval pilgrim's flask (ampulla), a medieval buckle and a medieval star-shaped mount. Roman and medieval coins and a post medieval jetton were also found.

Full description

October 1993.
Bronze 9th century disc brooch with backward turning animal with billeted border. Nicked decoration on neck of animal; feet have three toes. Broken lug on reverse. Complete catchplate. Lug parallel to edge.
Medieval pilgrim's ampulla, base only, damaged, with crowned W on obverse (Walsingham).
Medieval buckle with gilded plate, engraved lozenge in centre and four rivet holes, stamped borders.
