Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting between 1992 and 2013 recovered a late prehistoric flint scraper; Iron Age to Roman and medieval to post-medieval pottery sherds; a medieval quern stone fragment; a post-medieval glass linen smoother and clay tobacco pipe fragments; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and undated, Early Bronze Age, Iron Age to Early Saxon and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include undated copper alloy metalworking debris and a copper alloy ingot; an Early Bronze Age axehead fragment; Iron Age, Roman and Early Saxon brooches; medieval and post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval key and purse frame; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and a weight and a post-medieval crotal bell, furniture fitting, purse bar, thimble and part of a suspension mount from a sword belt.

November 1992. Fieldwalking and metal detecting.
Roman dolphin brooch. 1st century AD. See (S1).
Medieval penny - illegible. 13th-15th century.
Post medieval Nuremberg jetton. Rose/orb type. Late 16th-early 17th century.

Fragment medieval Mayen lava quern - grooved for grinding purposes.
Identified by W.F. Milligan (NCM).
Late medieval casket key with hollow stem and circular handle.

Coin: Richard/John short cross penny, class 4b, moneyer Ulard, mint Canterbury, about 1194-1204/5.

Copper alloy belt mount with two integral attachment spikes on reverse. An asymmetrical and more slender version of (S2). 24 x 8mm. 16th century.
